Quite frequently here at Axis, a question we get asked is: “Can I get broadband without a landline telephone?” and the answer from us is always, a most emphatic and definite “Yes!”. With this in mind, the service you are looking for is Axis’ Mobile Broadband.
How does it work?
Mobile Broadband uses the mobile phone network to connect you to the Internet.
You need a special USB dongle or stick, which plugs into your computer to allow for connection. You don’t need to use your mobile phone and you don’t pay for how long you use the net for, but for how much data that you download. So, if you can keep monitoring that, then there is no reason to stress over time limits.
Mobile Broadband USB dongles
Axis supply Mobile Broadband USB dongles which are small receivers that look a bit like memory sticks . It’s all pretty simple, really, you just plug the dongle into one of your computer’s USB ports and you are all ready to go.
You can use a USB dongle in multiple computers, but you won’t be able to connect more than one computer at a time. To do that you’ll either need to go for a mobile wi-fi dongle instead or a Mobile Broadband Wireless Router (not supplied).
